Much thanks to the weather God, who finally decided to show up. Better late than never I guess! With the extra spring in your step, and energy, what are you doing with it? How are you making this summer special? Ofcourse you are spending a lot of time outside with your family, or doing yard work, or engaging in some kind of outdoor activity or sport. But, all the women out there, what are you doing for yourself? Here are a few things I have been focusing more this summer:
Fluid Over-Intake: It’s hot out, and is quite easy to get dehydrated. Make it a point to carry a bottle of water with you at all times. If you want to make your water interesting, add some crystal light or any brand of water enhancer to give your water some flavor. They are extremely low in calories as well. Try drinking a class a lukewarm water with lemon juice and honey mixed in, first thing in the morning. This helps your body hydrate again in the morning, after being deprived of fluids all night. Citrus Fruits and Vegetables: Incorporate citrus fruits like water melon, oranges, grapes, and snack on them frequently. I always carry few cuties in my purse. They are hydrating and make for great snack at the same time. Try to lessen your salt intake, which will prevent water retention and make you not feel bloated. I have also been incorporating a lot of berries in my breakfast which helps me get my dose of anti-oxidants. Break a Sweat -Workout 3 Times a Week: I cannot impress the importance of exercising enough. Try to workout first thing in the morning which helps you with – feeling energized, and keeps you from procrastinating later. Working out atleast 3 times is quite an achievable goal. Spending 40 minutes running outside early in the morning and breathing in fresh oxygen, is meditative and refreshing, and gives the boost you need for your day.
Colors & Floral Prints: Little do we know that a person’s mood is tied to a huge extent to their attire. Wearing something fun and nice invariably brings a smile on my face. And especially in the summer, when all the stores are exploding with colorful and floral clothing. I have been incorporating neon colors in my clothing as well this summer, which I think is most in style this summer. Neon color tops or skinny pants, look great when paired with any mute or dark color, making your clothing item pop.
Bright Lips: These will never go out of fashion! Inspired by the pin-up look of the 80s, I have been incorporating bold lip colors to my makeup routine, while keeping my eye makeup subdued. This helps with – taking attention away from those few flaws in your skins and bringing focus to your lips. It is a very simple and quick look to achieve, making you look edgy with a hint of class.
Heels Rule: I know. They are uncomfortable, they give you blisters, and some days you want to give up on them. But we know that a pair of heels, always makes a gurl look sexy. They make your legs look longer, leaner and gives them definition. And thanks to pumps with platforms, they are definitely more wearable. Nude and blush color pumps have been my go-to this summer. They look great with almost any color outfit, and give an illusion of having leaner legs. Come now, who doesn’t want that?!
