Buns of Steel

It’s COLD in Minnesota! I mean the toe-numbing, curl-up-in-a-ball kind of cold! Winter is officially here, and getting yourself going in such extreme climate, frankly, requires massive amounts of will and determination. And guess what gets me going? Yep you got it – My workouts!

So here’s me updating you guys about what I’ve been doing lately. I am trying something new. I was always the do-a-little-of-everything kinda girl. My workouts typically involved lots of cardio, a bit of strength training, and then finish up with stretching. And yes that helped me get to my ideal weight. But I realized that I had conflicting goals. I wanted to lose weight, but also be ripped and achieve great muscular definition. I did lose weight, but I still did not see the definition I wanted. Simply because I wasn’t working on building my muscles. So this month I’ve been all about heavy weights, and this week, it’s been about the lower body!

Thanks to my husband who lent me his bar-bell and weights, I am finally able to now progress on to big girl bar-bell weight training! Don’t worry dumb-bells. I’ll keep revisiting you guys every now and then 🙂

To give you an example of a workout I did on Tuesday (which KILLED my legs!), here’s a FitnessBlender workout video for you to try…

Mass Building Workout for Legs – 35 Minute At Home Lower Body Barbell Workout for Strength

This workout has left me sore for 2 days! You know that feeling after a workout where you just drop on the floor, I got that feeling back! Yes! Thanks to Beachbody, my stamina has increased to such an extent that I need harder workouts to leave me wiped! And that is why changing things up had gotten crucial for me.

This workout targets multiple legs muscles at the same time, which is what we want – calves, thighs and glutes. But I gotta say, my glutes were the ones to be sore the most.

What have you been working on lately?

About pallavisharma

Welcome to my blog! Apart from being a health and fitness freak, I love writing, and this blog is a perfect outlet for it. I am not a professional writer by any means, but would like to be someday, so I can inspire people far and wide. I am a project manager by day, and go to business school at night. I am happily married to the love of my life, and thoroughly enjoy being a stepmom to two of the most wonderful kids I know. The goal of my blog is just one word – INSPIRE. If I was able to help even one person enough to get them to change their life around for the better, I would consider myself extremely fortunate. I am super thankful to all my readers who have given me so much love and encouragement through the years. You guys rock! I will leave you with one quote – “Monotony is the awful reward of the careful. If you want to change and grow, you need to take risk” – John C. Maxwell
