My 100th Post: It’s Freezing Men…Hallelujah

Standard

cold weather quote
Oh 2014, you truly started with a bang! You came in with a blast of cold air from the north and with your frigid -50 degree wind chill temperatures (aka “life threatening” temps) you froze not us, but also our ambitions and our ability to do anything fun.

But one thing you do not know about Minnesotans – we are always PREPARED! We may crib a little in the beginning, but very quickly we will be the one who will be walking around in shorts in February as if it were beach weather, while everywhere else people will still be wrapping themselves in layers upon layers. Yep, we toughen ourselves up and let no weather condition deter us from doing what we need to do.

So here are my top 3 ideas for staying warm this winter –

1). Break a sweat – This is one time of the year when you step outside after a workout, and the weather weirdly, feels good. Keeping your inner furnace going will help you not only with staying in shape over the lazy winter days, but it will also help you stay warm.

2). Hot Tea – This is a perfect hot tea weather. I always load up my kitchen cabinets with a variety of green and herbal teas at this time of the year and enjoy sipping on them 2 to 3 times a day. And we all know the awesome benefits of green tea! So instead of drinking sugary high-in-carbs hot chocolates, try some tea.

3). Spicy food – Eating spicy food always warms me up from within. According to a SELF magazine article, http://www.self.com/blogs/flash/2010/09/5-healthy-benefits-of-eating-s.html chili peppers help with the reduction of heart disease and they also increase the production of the feel good hormone, serotonin, in our body. And being an Indian, I got that department covered in my household 😉

Hope these tips help you.

I am super excited and proud about having written 100 blog posts. I’d like to thank my readers for this achievement as it was only because of all you guys that I have had the motivation and drive to keep writing. Writing isn’t the easiest thing to do, but with your love and support, I have been able to keep up with it!

About pallavisharma

Welcome to my blog! Apart from being a health and fitness freak, I love writing, and this blog is a perfect outlet for it. I am not a professional writer by any means, but would like to be someday, so I can inspire people far and wide. I am a project manager by day, and go to business school at night. I am happily married to the love of my life, and thoroughly enjoy being a stepmom to two of the most wonderful kids I know. The goal of my blog is just one word – INSPIRE. If I was able to help even one person enough to get them to change their life around for the better, I would consider myself extremely fortunate. I am super thankful to all my readers who have given me so much love and encouragement through the years. You guys rock! I will leave you with one quote – “Monotony is the awful reward of the careful. If you want to change and grow, you need to take risk” – John C. Maxwell
