I am sure you will agree that there is an abundance of information, mostly contradictory, out there around health and fitness, and dos and donts. But the issue is, what is right one for you?
When I first started my weightloss and fitness journey, I too was quite confused as to what is the right way path to pick. My even bigger worry was getting caught in some diet fad, which in reality does not even come close to being effective. After several years of trial and error I found out that it all comes down to what your goals are.
If your goal is just to lose weight and get a surge of endorphins everytime you step on the scale and see the numbers slip down, then a low carb diet if for you, along with cardio-based exercises. On the other hand, if you are working on building lean muscles and some bulk, protein based diet along with weight training is the routine for you. In both of these goals, being extreme isn’t advisable. In order to function in a healthy manner, and to preserve the longevity of the human body, it is essential to not ignore any food group. If you are looking to lose some pounds, ignoring carbohydrates completely will result in weakness and lack of energy. And if you are only on a protein based diet, and avoid consuming any of the other important nutrients that come from vegetables and fruits, you are once again depriving yourself of essential elements that your body needs.
I have come to realize how important it is to have a BALANCED diet. My goal lately has been to build lean muscles. Granted my meal contains products that are heavy in protein, but I ensure that I consume my greens and fruits on a regular basis.
