P90X3 – First Impressions

Standard

p90x3
I consider myself a sucker for home workouts. For the last year and a half, I have tried out pretty much all of beach body workouts, and in addition to them, have found other workouts over youtube and iphone apps. And I can confidently say, one does not need a gym membership to start losing weight! Gyms, in humble my opinion are quite a waste of time unless you are no real rush to get into the best shape of your life! From the point you pack your gym bag, to the point you finally start working out, you probably have wasted an hour, if not more. In that time someone at home could’ve gotten a workout + shower in and got on with their day. Now I have heard things like – “oh its fun to workout in a group” or “who doesn’t like working out in fancy places with state of the art changing rooms”, and my reply to that is – BULLSHIT! If you really wanted to get yourself in shape, you will workout even in your jammies!

Alright, I am done with my rant! Now lets talk about P90X3.

My 100th Post: It’s Freezing Men…Hallelujah

Standard

cold weather quote
Oh 2014, you truly started with a bang! You came in with a blast of cold air from the north and with your frigid -50 degree wind chill temperatures (aka “life threatening” temps) you froze not us, but also our ambitions and our ability to do anything fun.

But one thing you do not know about Minnesotans – we are always PREPARED! We may crib a little in the beginning, but very quickly we will be the one who will be walking around in shorts in February as if it were beach weather, while everywhere else people will still be wrapping themselves in layers upon layers. Yep, we toughen ourselves up and let no weather condition deter us from doing what we need to do.

So here are my top 3 ideas for staying warm this winter –

First off, a very happy new year to all my readers. You guys were nothing but awesome last year. I have loved reading your encouraging comments and feedback. So thank you for all the positivity each of you have sent my way. I am all set to rock 2014, and cant wait to see what it has in-store for me.

I had been thinking of an inspirational topic to write about at the start of this year, and as I was driving to work this morning, I was thinking about the kids and all that I have learned from parenting them all this time. And right then this topic struck me.

9 Days of ABmas – Day 9: Hanging Leg Raises

Standard

First off….Merry Christmas to all my readers. I hope you guys had an awesome time with your family and friends 🙂 My favorite part was watching the kids face as they opened their presents. So worth it! Their excitement fills me with so much joy, that not many things compare to that 🙂 It’s true, being around kids, you will forever be young 🙂

9 Days of ABmas – Day 8: Alternating Ab Heel Touches

Standard

I have to say, this isn’t the MOST challenging ab exercises you might have done, but if you did it for long periods of time, it can cause your muscles to get pretty sore. This exercise targets the upper abdominal and the obliques. They are infact a great exercise to do if you are working on toning your oblique muscles.

9 Days of ABmas – Day 7: Leg Climb Crunches

Standard

leg climb crunch

This workout is a variation of the typical crunches, only harder. This workout pushes you to keep your shoulder blades up, in the air, for a longer time, which in turn pushes your upper abdominal muscles to work. And if done right it works great for lower abs as well. For this workout to effectively work your lower abs, remember to suck in/contract your lower ab muscles while performing the exercise. This will help in intensifying the workout, and will prove to be more effective.

9 Days of ABMas – Day 6: V-Ups

v-ups

I LOVE this abdominal workout! Why? Because it works both the upper and lower body at the same time and saves me time! It also works the lower back muscles and strengthens them. If you try to hold this pose on your way up, it works the thighs as well. I typically do 50 of those everyday.
