P90X3 – First Impressions

Standard

p90x3
I consider myself a sucker for home workouts. For the last year and a half, I have tried out pretty much all of beach body workouts, and in addition to them, have found other workouts over youtube and iphone apps. And I can confidently say, one does not need a gym membership to start losing weight! Gyms, in humble my opinion are quite a waste of time unless you are no real rush to get into the best shape of your life! From the point you pack your gym bag, to the point you finally start working out, you probably have wasted an hour, if not more. In that time someone at home could’ve gotten a workout + shower in and got on with their day. Now I have heard things like – “oh its fun to workout in a group” or “who doesn’t like working out in fancy places with state of the art changing rooms”, and my reply to that is – BULLSHIT! If you really wanted to get yourself in shape, you will workout even in your jammies!

Alright, I am done with my rant! Now lets talk about P90X3.

First off….Merry Christmas to all my readers. I hope you guys had an awesome time with your family and friends 🙂 My favorite part was watching the kids face as they opened their presents. 9 Days of ABmas – Day 8: Alternating Ab Heel Touches

Standard

I have to say, this isn’t the MOST challenging ab exercises you might have done, but if you did it for long periods of time, it can cause your muscles to get pretty sore. This exercise targets the upper abdominal and the obliques. They are infact a great exercise to do if you are working on toning your oblique muscles.

9 Days of ABmas – Day 7: Leg Climb Crunches

Standard

leg climb crunch

This workout is a variation of the typical crunches, only harder. This workout pushes you to keep your shoulder blades up, in the air, for a longer time, which in turn pushes your upper abdominal muscles to work. And if done right it works great for lower abs as well. For this workout to effectively work your lower abs, remember to suck in/contract your lower ab muscles while performing the exercise. This will help in intensifying the workout, and will prove to be more effective.

9 Days of ABMas – Day 6: V-Ups

v-ups

I LOVE this abdominal workout! Why? Because it works both the upper and lower body at the same time and saves me time! It also works the lower back muscles and strengthens them. If you try to hold this pose on your way up, it works the thighs as well. I typically do 50 of those everyday.

9 Days of ABMas – Day 5: Lower Back Extensions

Standard

No ab exercise routine is complete without these. Your back is an essential part of the core and needs to be worked regularly to increase strength in the spine and surrounding muscles. This will help to increase endurance and the back’s ability to coordinate movements. It also helps with toning the gluteal muscles too. Now who doesn’t want a strong back and toned glutes?!

9 Days of ABMas – Day 4: Spiderman Plank Crunch

Standard

spiderman plank crunch

What I love most about this particular ab exercise is that it is a compound movement. It targets many different muscle groups at the same time giving you a bigger bang for your buck. This single movement involves not only a great core and oblique workout, but also gets your heart rate up and, ultimately helping you burn more calories. This is indeed one of the most effective ab workouts!
