Metabolic Cooking – Eat Your Way to Fat Loss

metabolic cooking

I was browsing around the web for workout exercises and inspirations, when I stumbled upon the following link-

Although I do not agree with their advertising tactics by running down an internationally acclaimed workout program, I do agree with their point that a fit body is attained by three things – right diet, right workout and lots of discipline. The term “metabolic cooking” was a foreign concept for me until I started researching about it, and realized that it is simply eating foods that are going to push your body to burn more calories even while eating, or otherwise.

Dave Ruel and Lorine Losier, the creators of Metabolic Cooking, claim that their recipes basically “torch the fat in record time”, and help you lose weight after while eating great tasting food. They claim that they use ingredients that are high in metabolic thermo-charge, that help in loosening up and getting rid of fat from within.

In this video, it is very clearly pointed out the type of food items to incorporate and the ones that should be totally discarded. None of these tricks are new, but they are a great reminder for cleaning up our kitchen and revamp it with healthy foods.

Their facebook page also provided a number of recipes and ideas, which might give you a good idea as to how one should cook and what the ingredients they emphasize on.

Hope this helps in your weight loss journey and gives you some insight and motivation into picking the right foods for your system.

Lost in Data Overload

I am sure you will agree that there is an abundance of information, mostly contradictory, out there around health and fitness, and dos and donts. But the issue is, what is right one for you?

When I first started my weightloss and fitness journey, I too was quite confused as to what is the right way path to pick. My even bigger worry was getting caught in some diet fad, which in reality does not even come close to being effective. After several years of trial and error I found out that it all comes down to what your goals are.

What’s for Lunch Today?

lunch food item

Last night after a long day of work, running errands and studying for my finance class, I had just enough energy to whip up a healthy lunch. I have found that it is quite easy to just go to bed without preparing a good lunch for the next day, and then hastily grab whatever easy and unhealthy food I can lay my hands on, and consume that for lunch. But just an extra bit of preparation and pushing myself the night before, keeps me happy and healthy the next day 🙂 So here is what I am going to have for lunch today –

Deciphering Cravings

It is that time of the year again. Fall’s here! Leaves are gradually changing colors. There’s a slight nip in the air and hot mug of coffee seems more comforting than sipping on a chilled glass of lemonade. What it also means is that your hunger cravings are going to go up. Atleast for some 🙂 I generally tend to crave for comfy food more in fall and winter than spring and summer. This makes this time of the year a tough one for me to keep the extra pounds off. Boring days at work do not help!

Desperate Times, Desperate Measures – Focus T25 + FitStar

I had been wanting to take my fitness to the next level. I was also desperate to cross over to the “good side” of 120 lbs 🙂 But for some reason I had attained a plateau. No amount of Insanity was helping me lose the last bit. Infact I had thoroughly injured myself and the aches and pains were hindering me from getting to my goal. But most importantly I am DESPERATE, because I want to look great for my big day – my WEDDING DAY, which is next month!!!!

Do You Have “Grit”?

true grit
I make it a point to listen/watch an inspirational/motivational audio/video every morning, while getting ready or while driving to work. Doing that small act everyday gives me the fuel I need to take on the day and make it the most productive and happy day for myself. So this past Monday morning, while having breakfast I stumbled upon a TED Talk by Angela Lee Duckworth. In a nutshell, her talk was about understanding what truly makes a child successful at school. Is it IQ? Is it extraordinary memorization skills? Based on her years of research, her findings show that the one single trait that separates the kids that do well in school versus the ones that do not is GRIT – extreme passion for a goal and having the tenacity to stick with it until it is achieved and beyond. For example – a marathon runner.

The Key to Success? Grit

The beauty of that talk is that each and everyone of us can relate to it. We all know that when we really want to achieve a goal, when we set our mind on it and decide to not let anything deter us, the results are usually in our favor. I challenge each of you to pick a goal for yourself today and decide to stick with it. If it is about getting in the best shape of your life, or taking your health to the next level, or creating better relationships in your life, try to display world class GRIT and determination to make those goals a reality.

Often times we find ourselves surrounded by the HOWs and the BUTs and the IFs. Don’t let these stumbling blocks question your goals and dampen your spirit. We still have half of 2013 left – which means that theres still time to pick up those new years resolutions you made 6 months back, and achieve them! I invite you to do the following few things to help you achieve your goals –

  • Create an intentions list (one that is achievable – maybe 6 months)
  • Create a vision board of all the things you want in your life and pin this 6 months intentions list on it.
  • Look at this intentions list everyday and remind yourself of your goals. This will help you stick to it.
  • If you slip, push yourself to get back.

Try this for 40 days and it will become a habit. Then share with me your experiences! If you need any help, please leave me a message!
Have a fantastic day!

Diet Tracking – How Do You Do It?

diet journal, tracking, food intake

diet journal

Like I have mentioned in some of my previous posts, the best way to keep a close eye on what you eat is by tracking it. We aren’t superhumans and keeping a mental note of what you ate the whole week can be pretty exhausting. Having self control at all times can be quite difficult as well.

So, having a diet journal can come in pretty handy in situations like these. Ever since I started journal/documenting whatever I eat everyday, it has truly changed my life. It not only helps me remember what I ate that day, but it also helps me compare and contrast between several weeks, and how I have been doing – the days I did well, and days when I slipped and turned into a glutton! 🙂

The most important thing to remember is – your diet journal should be like a mirror to you. Just like a mirror never lies (unless its one of those fitting room mirrors in fancy stores that flatter you so you can buy the outfit), your journal should be honest and truthful. If you had a chocolate that day, write it. You had a tub of ice-cream, write it. This will help you later in realizing that it’s time to take action and eat clean.

There are many iphone and android apps out there that do the same, and even calculates the calories for you. The one that I have been using is “My Diet Diary”.
My Diet Diary

Hope this helps and please let me know what you do to track your diet!
